One thing my website needed, but I had no idea how to create, were banners. I spent the whole day creating 5 banners… they look beautiful!

Many artists I’ve met have had a common desire in their learning/emerging stages of their career: creating their own clothing design. I’ve come across this fever as well, and have started designing. I finished a single pullover hoodie design which will be on the back and left sleeve, and have started on T-shirt designs. As of now, I have had 3 people show interest.
私が出会った習い・新進画家のうち何人も共通している欲望がある。それは彼等自身の服のデザインをする事。私もこの熱に取り付かれてしまい実際にデザインを始めた。私がデザインをしたのは帽子つきのパーカーの物で背中と左袖にいれる物。今はシャツにするデザインを思考中である。今現在、このパーカーに興味を示した者は3人いる。

With the huge success with the China exhibition in Yinchaun, our curator Dr. George Rivera was able to get an established gallery space in Beijing in 2008, during the Olympics!!

中国の銀川での大きな成功を元に、私達のキューレイタのDr.ジョージ・リブーラ氏は2008年のオリンピック開催中の北京で名が知れたギャラリーでのスペースを確保したそうだ。

I just sent my portfolio info to a gallery in Los Angeles. I’ve had my eye on the site for a while which has been having an open call for artist portfolios. I don’t have much experience applying online for a gallery to view my work, so I’m keeping my fingers cross.

ロサンゼルスにあるギャラリーに私のポートフォリオを送ったところである。アーティストのポートフォリオを拝見するオープン・コールを何度もしているギャラリーなので以前から目をつけていたところだ。オンラインでギャラリーに私の絵画を見てもらう経験はまだ浅いので緊張している。

Starting next week my work will be going to an exhibition with other Artnauts artist’s work to the Academia de San Carlos in Mexico City. The theme for this exhibition is “Antiwar.”

来週から他のArtnautsのアーティストと一緒に私の絵がメキシコのメキシコ市にあるアカデミア・デ・サンカルロスの企画展に展示される。この展示のテーマは『反戦争』である。

This was the first time I actually used gold leaf, not gold paint. There’s a milky adhesive that turns clear in about 30 to 60 minutes that gets tacky. Gold leaf is very delicate and sticks to the fingers easily, so I used wax paper stuck a sheet of gold leaf onto it, and gently placed it onto the adhesive. After the adhesive is dry I used a soft dry brush and brushed away the excess gold leaf. I also have some sealer that has a gloss finish to go on top, but actually decided against using it. My print is mat finished so I thought it’ll look better without that sealer.

初めて金箔を使った。今までは金の破片が入ってるアクリルやら絵の具を使ってたんだがプリントには本物を使いたかった。白っぽい特性の糊があってそれをプリントに塗り、30分から60分後それがクリアに変色した時に金箔を貼り付ける。金箔は指にくっ付き易い上にとてもデリケートなんでワックスペーパーを使って金箔をその糊の上に移動。糊が完全に乾いた後や軟らかい刷毛を使って余分な金箔を取り除く作業。仕上げに金箔の上に使うグロス光沢のシーラーがあるんだけれどもそれを使わない事にした。このプリントはマット仕上げにしてあるんで部分部分だけグロスだったら多少変だからだ。

I have a print due for my china exhibition on Monday.
The print is on watercolor paper with ink. The image is “Artist’s Adventures in Wonderland: Mad Tea-Party.”
I just sprayed the print with a protectant. What I used for this print was a KRYLON brand digital photo & paper protectant named “Preserve It!” This adds UV protection against fading, as well as darken up the colors on my print such as the black colors.
From here on I’m planning to add Gold Leaf on certain details and finished it with a sealer.

月曜日に中国の展示会の為のプリントの期限が迫ってる。
プリントは水彩用紙にインクにプリントされた物。プリントは『不思議な国のアーティスト：マッド・ティー・パーティ』。
プリントを丁度保存液でスプレーしたばかりである。このプリントにはＫＲＹＬＯＮブランドの「保存しろ！」というデジタル写真と紙用の保存液を使った。ＵＶによる色の損失からプリントを護る為と黒色などの色をより深くする為である。
この段階から金箔をディーテールを加え、最終的にシーラを塗る予定。

I just got an email from someone I met during my opening reception in March. He’s curating a show at a music bar and was wondering if I was interested in including a piece. I’m happy and excited that someone remembered me from half a year ago (and better yet kept my biz. card), but I have trouble with transportation. I need to find a ride for installation as well as deinstallation….

三月の自分のオープニング・リセプションの時に会った人からメールが来た。何でもミュージック・バーで二週間もの間ショーを開くんで作品を展示しないか、との事。半年前から私の事を覚えていて嬉しい（そして私のビジネスカードをまだ持ってる事も嬉しい）けど問題は行き来にある。この話を承諾するにはインストールとディストールの時に手伝ってくれる人を探し出さない事には受けられない・・・。
